Where in the world is the Snow Family...

We took the most amazing trip to St. Kitts Island in the West Indies. It was a company trip for Corbin and play time for me and the kids. We enjoyed the warm weather, white sand, room service, the monkies, the ocean, chocolate smoothies by the pool, and enjoying spending time together as a family. Madie and Dallas enjoyed a new little friend they made....it was a little monkey in a cage named Oliver. He was rescued by the owners of our favorite beach. Madie and Dallas tried snorkeling and liked to see the star fish and sea shells. We had a hard time to come home. At least we have the great pictures to remember our fun trip.

A Little Late....

O.K. I said doing a blog was going to be hard for me to keep up with. I am just so forgetful and lazy....who are we kidding. So to recap the past few months events.

Madie turned 6!! She had a PJ party with her cousins. It was so much.

Christmas was so much fun. We stayed in Charlottesville and enjoyed the day together as a family. We had our traditionally "BIG" breakfast. I think that is the best part of the day for my kids. The pictures say it all.

Can it be True????

Did Jill really turn 30?? Where has the time gone? I must admitt the thought of turning 30 seemed scary and depressing to me...but after my fun weekend with the kids and Corbin I realized I have everything I ever wanted at age 30!! I know it sounds silly but it truly is simple...a loving husband who I think still adores me and puts up with me, 2 beautiful kids who always teach me to be a better person, I have a roof over my head and food on the table and an amazing extended family who support me and care for me. So it is easy to see why 30 is just a number.

The birthday party started Saturday morning with a trip to VA Beach for the night. We enjoyed beautiful weather at the beach. We played outside on the beach..the kids even got into the water. Then we swam in the indoor pool for awhile and then headed out for dinner at Cheesecake Factory. It was a long wait and the kids were restless. Dallas ended up falling alseep on me all the way through dinner and Madie looked like she was totally out of it but not giving in. We left on Sunday afternoon and went to Williamsburg to The Great Wolf Lodge. It is an indoor waterpark with lots of water slides and a wave pool. It is a hotel to stay in as well. Dallas found a new passion for the "Flow Rider" It is a simulation ride with one continous wave that you can body board on. Dallas has a passion for being a surfer. Madie and Dallas also liked the wave pool. Corbin and I laid back in our lounge chairs and watched the kids play. On Monday I got breakfast in bed at the hotel followed by more waterpark fun. We left in the early afternoon and came back to Charlottesville were I got a pedicure (by myself). Then came home and got dressed up for the next surprise!!! The kids were in their p.j.'s so I knew that were staying at home and they told me a babysitter was coming over and April's boys were coming. So when the sitter got there we headed out to dinnner with April and Steve. Corbin got a Limo to pick us up and take us to The Melting Pot. We ate a yummy dinner and then came back to the house for cake and presents. It was such a great weekend!!! Thank you Corbin, Madie and Dallas for such a fun weekend.

Chinese food vs. the Snow kids

Corbin and I have yet to figure out why our kids turn into animals when they eat Chinese food. As I listen to the sounds at the dinner table tonght, I thought if someone over heard this they would have thought it was feeding time for pigs on a farm. The nights we eat Chinese we have the same discussion with our kids, it goes a little something like this:

Corbin: Madie lean over your plate.

Jill: Dallas would you like me to cut up your chicken..that will not all fit in your mouth. You are going to choke.

Corbin: Madie chew all your food then take another bite..slow down

Jill: Dallas I think you have enough sweet and sour sauce.

Jill: Is everyone done with their food?

Madie and Dallas: Is there anymore rice and chicken.

Corbin: Madie lean over your plate.

And so on...

This continues until all 4 containers of chinese food are gone. Our kids could out eat most adults when they eat Chinese food. These pictures don't even do justice.

Halloween Big Party 2008

The halloween party was a huge success. We enjoyed a wide spread of food...pizza, homemade potatoe soup, homemade pumpkin muffins, pastries, donuts, chips, cake, and of course candy. We added a "moon bounce" this year which was a huge success. It served it's purpose...the kids jumped all the sugar out of them. Dallas went as Jimmy Johnson (he wanted to ride his bike around to trick-or-treat because his bike is blue and he said it could be his car #48). Madie was a "fairy godmother" who threatened Dallas all night with putting a spell on him. We had music blasting (Micheal Jackson's Thriller), and the constant flow of everyone from the neighborhood to partake of the good times. We only had to take 3 breaks around the block. There was only one house that was scary and made Dallas cry. I had no idea how scary it was going to be until we got up the driveway and Madie had already taken off for the door to get candy. I couldn't leave her in case she got scared so I had to go up with her and listen to Dallas crying the whole time. I felt so bad. I think it was a bit much for them seeing as they both ended up last night screaming around 2:00am and running into our bedroom. Dallas this morning asked if he could have some candy and I told him one piece. He was so scared he wouldn't even go downstairs by himself to get it. I guess having a little fear in the kids could work to our advantage.

Boys Night at the Race Track

So what is one thing a father can't wait to do with his son......play catch, shoot hoops, go fishing, and play football??? Well if you are anything like Corbin all of these things are true expect one thing is missing...a night under the lights with a hundred thousand screaming, drunk rednecks...that's right Corbin and Dallas are huge NASCAR FANS!!! They went to their first race together at the Richmond Motor Speedway. After watching last season on T.V. and the first part of this season, they finally got to see their favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson #48. Dallas watched one race last season and Jimmy Johnson just happen to win that race, so Dallas decided that Jimmy Johnson was a winner. This spring we bought him a little Jimmy Johnson car that he played with all the time. He then began to pay more attention to all the details about Jimmy Johnson's car. If you ask him now who is the "best" race car driver he will tell you Jimmy Johnson, he drives for Lowe's, his number is #48, and he is winning the Sprint Cup Points. Before the race Corbin went and bought ear muffs to try and take the edge off the loud cars. Corbin brought the ear muffs home and told Dallas he needed to take a nap before the races. After Dallas saw the ear muffs he asked if he could wear them during his nap. We let him and when he woke-up he had sweaty ears. He hasn't asked to do that again and advices others not to sleep with ear muffs. The boys had a great time and look forward to going again.

SUMMER FUN OBX 2008

We made our annual trip to the Outerbanks of North Carolina in August. We had a blast with the family. Madie and Dallas are true beach bums. They wanted to stay out all day on the beach. Madie and Dallas even dared the ocean to try and catch some waves. One day the waves were huge and Madie and I attempted to go out and ended up getting roled a couple of times. It was bad enough to get Corbin off his feet and the lifeguard. Lucky for us Madie is amazingly strong and hung on around my neck with a tight grip. We did go back out the next day into the waves when they weren't as rough. We also did some bridge jumping in Manteo. We look forward to our next trip in 2009!!!
